Texas authorities have confirmed that a truck driver lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash in the eastern part of the state on Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, in Bowie County, Texas.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a semi truck traveling west on I-30 struck a cow, lost control, and crossed over into the eastbound lane, where it was struck by a Chevy Malibu. The truck rolled over in the eastbound lane, and then a second semi truck traveling east on I-30 drove through the rolled trailer and caught fire.

A third semi truck driver who was eastbound on I-30 swerved to avoid the crashed vehicles but struck the detached rear axle of the rolled truck.

The driver of the second semi truck that crashed through the rolled trailer was killed.

Three other people were hospitalized with injuries but are expected to survive. The driver who struck the cow wasn’t injured.

Eastbound I-30 remained closed through early afternoon, causing heavy traffic backups.
